An official says five people are dead and two injured after a small jet ran off the end of a runway and crashed at an airport in eastern Georgia.

Federal aviation officials say the Hawker Beechcraft crashed Wednesday night at Thomson-McDuffie County Airport, about 30 miles west of Augusta.

The plane was coming from John Tune Airport in Nashville according to WXIA TV, which reports the pilot survived the crash. A male passenger also survived.
