Five people are facing drug charges following a police investigation in Atlantic City.

And authorities say that investigation started after citizens and business owners in the area complained about illegal drug activity.

On June 23rd, detectives with the Atlantic City Police Department conducted surveillance in the first block of South Tennessee Avenue to target people that were selling, buying, or possessing narcotics.

During the operation, four men and a woman were arrested.

Officers say they recovered,

  • 48 grams of cocaine
  • 3 grams of heroin
  • More than 3 grams of ecstasy

ARRESTED: Mikye Degraffenreidt, 24, of Atlantic City
CHARGES: Possession of CDS (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone (two counts), and loitering to buy or sell drugs

ARRESTED: Louis Murphy, 23, of Atlantic City
CHARGES: Possession of CDS, possession of CDS with intent to distribute, possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone, and loitering to buy or sell drugs

Degraffenreidt and Murphy were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

ARRESTED: Qashira Cooper, 24, of Atlantic City
CHARGES: Possession of CDS (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute (two counts, and possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone (two counts)

ARRESTED: Ja’mir Holmes, 25, of Pleasantville
CHARGES: Possession of CDS and loitering to buy or sell drugs

ARRESTED: Cecil Morgan, 34, of Atlantic City
CHARGES: Possession of CDS and loitering to buy or sell drugs.

Cooper, Holmes, and Morgan were released on a summons with a future court date.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
