Atlantic City, Area Medical Center Names Chief Hospital Executive
AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center has gone “Back to The Future” with the return of Kevin McDonnell to the newly created position of Chief Hospital Executive.
McDonnell possesses nearly 40 years of diverse experience in healthcare operations, including:
- strategic planning
- operational oversight
- financial management
- executive leadership
McDonnell has held various leadership positions in hospitals and healthcare, at both Virtua Health and AtlantiCare.
McDonnell is well positioned to assume his new leadership role, as he previously served at AtlantiCare as its previous Chief Operating Officer of the AtlantiCare Physician Group.
McDonnell played an essential role in the establishment of the AtlantiCare Physician Group and AtlantiCare Urgent Care.
McDonnell resides in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.
McDonnell will lead AtlantiCare's Hospital Campuses, and be responsible for:
- oversight of strategic planning for acute care services
- clinical and professional performance
- quality
- patient safety
- medical and clinical education
- system growth and development.
McDonnell will report directly to Michael Charlton, President and Chief Executive of AtlantiCare.

"He brings an exceptional blend of experience, leadership, and a proven track record of driving growth and operational excellence. I know he will be a tremendous asset in our efforts to advance VISION 2030 and deliver outstanding care to our community,” said Charlton.
McDonnell left a senior executive position with RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group to rejoin AtlantiCare.
