We know that this is not new. But, it is still shocking.

I can’t ever recall a time when food prices have risen so much in just two years or less.

The situation is completely out of control and paychecks aren’t able to keep up with the skyrocketing, runaway inflation.

I’m not picking on any one store, as this is an across the board crisis.

More than 60% of Americans these days are living from paycheck to paycheck.

This morning, I needed a few things to get ready for the upcoming week.

While purchasing milk, bread and V8 vegetable juice, I took a close look at the prices for various items.

There is no reason that food, beverage and snacks should be priced at these astronomical levels.

Here is a 12-pack of Sprite cans of soda.

$ 9.49 for 12 cans, each consisting of 12 ounces. It was not long ago that you could get 3 of these cases of 12 for $8 and less, when they were regularly on sale.

I have almost completely eliminated soda from my diet. This is just ridiculous for those who drink soda on a regular basis.

Next, here is an example of frozen pizza that you can find in many brands and styles.

This example from earlier today is $ 12.00 for 2 pizzas or $ 6 for one.

A gallon of milk is now more than a gallon of gasoline. Significantly more at $ 4.59 per-gallon vs. about $ 3.37 for a gallon of gasoline.

Here is the cost of V8 vegetable juice. Bit long ago, you could buy this for $ 1.50 to $ 2.00 for 64 ounces.

Look at it today.

Yes, it’s $ 4.29 for one V8, with a grand bargain for two for $ 8.00. I bought two. Ouch! Not long ago, this item would cost about $ 1.50 to $ 2.00.

Here is soup that not long ago, you could regularly purchase for $ 1.00 to $ 1.50 each. Now, it is $ 3.49 per-can, or, 2 for $ 6.00 when on sale.

This is almost forcing you to only purchase at the very largest big box stores, where there are still some OK deals when you purchase in bulk.

Even there, the prices are extraordinary high.

I saw a statistic recently about a very large percentage of Americans, who now regularly purchase their food at dollar stores.

And, even dollar stores aren’t dollar stores anymore… They are $1.50 and beyond.

Look at this small container of mayonnaise for $ 7.79

It’s crazy!

Winner, Winner … Chicken Dinner. $ 7.79 is the winning price for one box of Frosted Flakes cereal.

Here’s your run-of-the-mill $14.99 paper towels. Not long ago you would get this for about a dollar per roll. We know the paper towels are not food, but we need them and the cost is just ridiculous anymore.

If you like chips, candies and other snacks … these prices are also going through the roof.

You could get a big bag of chips for $ 2.00 … look at it now?

Finally, if you like chocolate … you’re going to pay for it. Look at this $15.99 price?

I took many more photos … but, you get the point.

It’s very dangerous condition, when wages, do not keep up with the price of various essentials.

Buy in bulk whenever and wherever possible.

Happy shopping and please be careful.
