Atlantic City Refuses To Act: State of NJ Must Suspend Mayor’s Wife

For more than one month, the Atlantic City Board of Education has failed in its duty to suspend La’Quetta Small, the superintendent of public schools in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

La’Quetta Small has been criminally charged by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office with serious child abuse offenses.

LA'QUETTA SMALL is criminally charged with:

• 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child.
• 3 separate counts of disorderly persons simple assault.

Additionally, her husband, Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small and Constance Days-Chapman, Atlantic City High School Principal have also been criminally charged as follows:

MARTY SMALL is criminally charged with:

• 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child.
• 3rd degree aggravated assault
• 3rd degree terroristic threats
• disorderly persons simple assault.

CONSTANCE DAYS-CHAPMAN is criminally charged with:

• second-degree Official Misconduct.
• third-degree Hindering Apprehension of
• Another.
• fourth-degree Obstruction of Justice.
• disorderly persons Failure to Report Child Abuse.

Days-Chapman was promptly suspended upon being criminally charged by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

To date, the Atlantic City Board of Education has purposely failed to do its job.

They have allowed La’Quetta Smll to continue to work, despite facing criminal child abuse charges.

The reason is clear … a majority of the Atlantic City Board of education has direct conflicts of interest.

They have immediate family members who have jobs within the Atlantic City Public Schools and City of Atlantic City.

Here is the proof:

The sending districts of Ventnor City, Margate City and Brigantine, send millions of dollars to the Atlantic City Public Schools every year.

The Ventnor City Mayor, City Commission and the Ventnor Board of Education have sent a letter to Atlantic City Board of Education President, Shay Steele, Sr.

In the letter, Ventnor is calling for the removal of La’Quetta Small.

Shay Steele, Sr. is a City of Atlantic City Fire Inspector.

Additionally, Shay Steele, Jr. has just been hired as an Atlantic City Professional firefighter.

Further, Shay Steele’s wife is a teacher within the Atlantic City Public Schools system.

The various conflicts of interest are voluminous and deeply troubling.

Marty and La’Quetta Small gave direct control over the professional lives of many of the Atlantic City Board of Education decision makers.

To date, The state of New Jersey has sat on the sidelines and have done absolutely nothing.

The Atlantic City Board of Education has demonstrated that they have no intention to act.

The state of New Jersey must act now, without delay.

You cannot allow someone who is criminally charged with child abuse crimes to remain as superintendent of public schools in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
