About 6 weeks ago, we first shined the light of truth about the deplorable conditions at the Chelsea Little League … the overall disrepair, graffiti and trash was everywhere.

This was separate and apart from the directly adjacent Atlantic City Skate Park. More about that a little later in this update.

I returned to the Chelsea Little League stadium last night in the 5:00 p.m. hour.

The overall conditions are much improved, with still some work left to complete the job.

Here is what the Chelsea Little league looked like 6 weeks ago … followed by what it looks like now. No doubt that our dogged reporting on this issue has helped.

I took this same approach a few years ago when I discovered dangerous concrete, rebar and other debris scattered all over the Chelsea Heights elementary school.

Our reporting also brought about an effective clean-up there.

The Chelsea Little League is very important to me. It’s where I played my little league career from 1969 to 1972 and farm league before that.

My Father was the President of The Chelsea Little League. Our family put in a lot of time here. My sister Karen worked hard at the concession stand, too. We loved our time spent there, playing and enjoying tte annual Chelsea League carnival … featuring rides and various games of chance.

Seeing this iconic stadium in total disrepair, littered with trash and defaced with graffiti everywhere was heartbreaking.

Now, we can show you what our focus has helped to achieve.

Below, the photos tell the whole story. First, the photos depict what it looked 6 weeks ago … followed by what it looks like right now:

The paint above is not graffiti … it reads “Skate AC.”

Now, a word about the adjacent Atlantic City Skate Park.

In separate visits, just minutes apart, my Brother Don and I spent time at the complex yesterday.

There was at least 10 or more young boys and girls enjoying the park.

Don spoke with 3, 18-year-old men … they were so respectful. One of the young men said:

Are you Mr Hurley? Could you please get the city to remove this horrible graffiti from our skate park? We love skating here and these terrible conditions really take away from what should be a great experience.

These young persons are just awesome. They love the Sovereign Avenue skate park.

Watching the children and young adults enjoying the skate park is a beautiful thing.

Here are some photos of the Atlantic City Skate Park from yesterday:

The trash that was spewed all over the stadium is gone. A fresh coat of white paint has covered the graffiti on the walls of the Chelsea Little League stadium.

It looks so much better than it did previously.
