Police are asking for your help involving a disturbing scam that happened over this past weekend in Absecon. 

According to The Press of Atlantic City, police are actively searching for a man dressed in religious items. who claimed to be a missionary from Africa.

Absecon Police describe the man as black, clean shaven, in his forties and talked with a foreign accent. The incident took place in the parking lot of the Absecon Shoprite.

The scammer told his victim that he was in possession of $35,000 which was to be given away to charity. The man told the victim if she would give him $5,000, he would in turn give her the $35,000, which she could donate to her church. The victim was then asked for additional money. The suspect took off with the original $5,0000 after the victim went to the bank to retrieve more money.
