Car Smashes Into Church Hall in Cape May

A scary scene in Cape May Saturday afternoon as a car backed into the Star of the Sea church hall.

Robert Newkirk was on the scene shortly after the crash and provided the photos you see here.

According to Newkirk, the driver of the car was backing up, and for an unknown reason failed to stop. The car ended up going some 15 feet inside the building.

There is no word on injuries.

Cape May Fire and Rescue was on the scene as was the Cape May R.U.S.T Team. (Regional Urban Search Team.) They were able to check the structural damage caused by the crash.

The vehicle was able to be driven out of the building by a local firefighter.
