
Hero Citizens Help Egg Harbor Township, NJ Car Crash Victims
This is a great story about citizens stepping-up during a moment of truth and directly assisting car crash victims in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.
The car crash occurred on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at approximately 9:37 a.m.
The Egg Harbor Township Police Department responded to the area of 2511 Fire Road for a motor vehicle crash.
Here is how the Egg Harbor Township Police Department describes the crash scene:
A 2022 Ford Ranger, operated by Anthony DeJesse, 31 years of age, from Ocean City, was traveling south on Fire Road in the area of 2511, when a 2008 Hyundai Accent, operated by Christian Roberts, 24 years of age, from Margate, was traveling north on Fire Road, attempting to make a left turn into the parking lot of 2511 Fire Road. The vehicles collided head-on in the northbound lane of travel. The Ford Ranger was projected off to the shoulder of the roadway where it came to rest after striking a business sign and utility pole guidewire. The Hyundai Accent was pushed backward and came to rest in the northbound lane where the engine compartment caught fire after the collision. Both drivers were treated at the scene and transported to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center-City Campus for moderate injuries, according to the Egg Harbor Township Police Department.

These valiant employees “all jumped into action and assisted the crash victims out of their vehicles and away from the scene, rendering emergency assistance and extinguishing the fire prior to emergency personnel arriving on location,” said the Egg Harbor Township Police Department.

This section of Fire Road was closed for about 2 hours, with traffic being diverted down California Avenue and Pear Street.
The crash is being investigated by Officers Nick Poletis, Robert Moran and Sergeant Ed Stearns of the Egg Harbor Township Traffic Safety Unit.
“The investigation is ongoing and charges pending,” said the Egg Harbor Township Police Department.
