Somers Point Man Jailed for Filming Sex Act With 14-Year-Old Girl
Here's another example of a crime committed through a twisted use of technology that will be a cloud over a young girl's life forever.
The man responsible was sentenced for his crime this week, and he will spend the next three years in New Jersey State prison.
Somers Point Man Sentenced for Sex Crime With Teen
Tyrique Beckett, 30, of Somers Point, was sentenced this week after being found guilty of filming a 14-year-old girl on his phone while receiving oral sex from her.
Somers Point Police recieved a complaint about a sexual assault on the girl from a family member in October 2024. The victim's family member gave police a video that she received, sent from Beckett's phone, of the sex act.
When police interviewed the victim, she told them that Beckett had asked her for oral sex, but she wasn't aware that he was recording her with his cell phone.
Beckett pleaded guilty to third-degree endangering the welfare of a child in connection in October 2025 in exchange for a recommended sentence of three years.
Beckett Will Be a Registered Sex Offender
As part of his sentence, Beckett must register as a sex offender in accordance with Megan’s Law, and he will be subject to parole supervision for life.
1994's Megan's Law mandates that people convicted of certain sex crimes in New Jersey register with local police, triggering notification to the community that the offender lives in town.
It intends to increase safety through registration and public information about sex offenders.
