Buena Vista Township Committeeman John Armato defeated Freeholder Ernest Coursey 89-67 for the second Democratic Assembly nomination‬ - District 2 Tuesday night.

An absolute unknown named John Armato, a Buena Vista Township Committeeman, won the nomination on the 4th ballot to win the right to run with Assemblyman Vince Mazzeo against Republicans Vince Sera (current Brigantine Councilman) and former Margate City Commissioner Brenda Taube.

A well placed Democratic source confirmed that Armato was formerly a Republican, turned Democrat.
