Lumberton Man Kills Acquaintance Then Takes Own Life, NJ Cops Say
Lumberton Township, N.J. — Authorities say a Lumberton man fatally shot an acquaintance at a Curry Court home Thursday afternoon before driving away and taking his own life inside his vehicle.
Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw announced the deaths of 53-year-old Damon Nesmith and 56-year-old Tyrone McLean.
Shooting at Curry Court
According to authorities, Lumberton police were called to the home at around 4:15 PM for a report of shots fired. Officers arrived to find Nesmith dead at the scene.
Investigators say McLean had gone to the home and fired multiple shots at Nesmith with a .40-caliber handgun. He then drove about half a mile before fatally shooting himself while parked in the 600 block of Holland Place. Police found his body inside a Volvo SUV with the engine still running.
