- What’s Next for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District
Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill currently serves as a U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 11th congressional district, which includes numerous communities across Essex, Morris, and Passaic counties. Now that she is our next Governor, someone will have to fill her seat in Congress.
According to Patch, "Sherrill will need to resign from her seat to take her new job as governor on Jan. 20. An election – including a primary – will take place to choose a replacement to fill her unexpired term. This will leave the state’s 11th district temporarily without a representative in Congress. An election date hasn’t been set."
