NJ Candidate & Current Atlantic City Employee Not Paying Rent?
A former Atlantic City, New Jersey Councilman, current City employee and candidate for the New Jersey General Assembly has been accused of not paying his rent.
Bruce Weekes, Jr. is a former Atlantic City Councilman at large, who resigned his seat in order to accept a full-time City of Atlantic City job.
In the run-up to the switch, Weekes had been regularly opposed to the Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small agenda.
Suddenly, Weekes flipped and began supporting the Small agenda. Then, a short while later, Weekes announced that he would be resigning his City Council seat.
Finally, a short while after that, Weekes was given a full-time City job from Marty Small.
In his city position, Weekes is allegedly responsible for economic development, which appears ironic under the present circumstances.
Small filled Weekes’ Council seat with a close ally, (Pat Bailey) who is now running with Small this year.
Bailey was a long-time member of the Atlantic City Board of Education, who resigned her position in advance of being selected for the City Council vacancy.
David Wildstein, founder, editor and publisher of the New Jersey Globe was the first to publish the news of Weekes and the non payment of rent issue.
Wildstein has confirmed that:
“South Inlet Partners Urban Renewal alleges that Bruce Weekes owes over $2,300 in unpaid rent for his Atlantic Avenue apartment,” wrote Wildstein.
Wildstein has confirmed that Weekes is scheduled to appear before New Jersey Superior Court Judge James McClain on Friday, March 28, 2025.
Wildstein has also confirmed that two financial institutions successfully sued Weekes for non payment of the following:
- Mariner Finance prevailed in a $6,802 judgment against Weekes for failing to repay a loan.
- Bank of America successfully sued Weekes for failing to pay $4,587 he owed them in 2019.
The Weekes non payment issues has placed New Jersey Gubernatorial candidate Steve Fulop on the defensive, as he is running with Weekes and Small this year.
The Fulop campaign said the following to the New Jersey Globe:
"We don't believe that financial hardship should be a reason to stop someone from running for office, and time will tell what the courts rule in these cases once the public has access to the full backstory, We fully expect opposition research stories to be dumped on many of the legislative candidates we support because the institutional candidates don't want primaries and are scared. The truth is Bruce Weekes was elected as the council president in Atlantic City and remains tremendously popular in the area."

We have been trying to shine the light on the neglect at The Chelsea Little League stadium, located on Sovereign Avenue. The conditions are deplorable.
I am respectfully urging Marty Small to take appropriate corrective action.
The photos below to tell the whole story.
Bon appétit.
