I mean, you only have to head into the Allentown, PA, area where you'll encounter New Tripoli (which is "trah-POLE-ee" and not "TRIP-o-lee"), or take a drive between "NEW-ark" in Delaware and "NORK" in North Jersey, or in New York, where you'll encounter Canajoharie, Cohoes, and Niskayuna.

NJ Has its Own Placename Pronunciation Pitfalls

Of course, we have the same problem within our own state. Chances are, people in South Jersey will butcher North Jersey town names and vice versa.
