The Atlantic City, New Jersey Board of Education has met 5 times over the past 5 weeks.

Despite meeting on a weekly basis, this irresponsible board has not made one public comment about their criminally charged superintendent of public schools.

They are a board that is riddled with conflicts of interest.

A majority of the Atlantic City Board of Education members have immediate family members who hold positions within the Atlantic City Public Schools system.

On April 15, 2024, La’Quetta Small was criminally charged by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, along with her husband, Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small.

MARTY SMALL is criminally charged with:

  • 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child.
  • 3rd degree aggravated assault
  • 3rd degree terroristic threats
  • disorderly persons simple assault.

LA'QUETTA SMALL is criminally charged with:

  • 2nd degree endangering the welfare of a child.
  • 3 separate counts of disorderly persons simple assault.

Additionally, Constance Days-Chapman, the Principal of Atlantic City High School is criminally charged with:

  • second-degree Official Misconduct.
  • third-degree Hindering Apprehension of Another.
  • fourth-degree Obstruction of Justice.
  • disorderly persons Failure to Report Child Abuse.

Days-Chapman was immediately suspended after being criminally charged.

La’Quetta Small is not currently suspended, which has challenged everyone’s ability to comprehend what is really going on here.

No one has been able to find a previous example of any school official being charged with child abuse crimes being allowed to work in a public school setting as La’Quetta Small is currently doing.

Ventnor City is the only sending district to call for the removal of La’Quetta Small.

Margate and Brigantine have been derelict and have said and done absolutely nothing.

The state of New Jersey has also purposely failed in their duty to take appropriate action when such criminal charges are filed against a chief school administrator.

Legal sources have told us that the Smalls’ criminal case could take 18 months to 2 years to resolve.

It is incomprehensible to imagine that a local board of education and various state of New Jersey oversight would allow a person charged with unresolved child abuse charges to remain in their public education position.
