The Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia, which inducted her into their Hall of Fame in 2018, says she began working for KYW News Radio in 1972. About a year later, Reid moved over to Channel 3, where she served as an investigative and general assignment reporter.

In 1979, Reid headed across town and joined Channel 10, which, at the time, was still a CBS affiliate. Reid stayed with the station when it transitioned to NBC 10 in 1995.
