By Thanksgiving night, if you are tired of being around your own cousins, you can watch Kirk Cousins.

Cousins, the Minnesota Vikings quarterback, will be featured in the Thanksgiving night game, 8:25 EST on NBC TV, as the NFC North’s Vikings host the AFC East’s New England Patriots. New York sports books should begin to post the lines for the games in the coming weeks.

Having Cousins on prime time will be interesting. He’s the losingest quarterback of all time under the lights. In 27 games either on Sunday night, Monday night, or Thursday night, Cousins has a record of 9-18. Those 18 losses are more than any other quarterback in prime time.

Cousins is 2-10 on Monday Night Football, with his only two wins coming against the Chicago Bears. He is 4-4 on Sunday Night Football and he is 3-4 on Thursday Night Football where he will attempt to even his record this season.

Statistically, he is at his worst on Thursday, however, with a completion rate of under 65 percent and 11 touchdown passes to go with 11 interceptions.

This season the Vikings have played well, except for a blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Of course, that game was played on Monday Night Football where Cousins lost for the 10th time in his career.

New England, after a slow start to the season with a rash of injuries, has played better of late. Head coach Bill Belichick may be doing one of his best coaching jobs in 2022. The Patriots do not possess the talent they once had, but their Hall of Fame head coach is getting the most out of what he has.

This will be just the 14th time in both franchises’ history that they will meet. New England holds a 9-4 advantage through the first 13 games and have won the last five games, four by double figures. The Vikings last win over the Patriots came in 2000. This will be the sixth time the game is played in Minnesota and New England holds a 3-2 advantage there.

The Pick: Check your favorite New Jersey sports book for the line as the game draws nearer. With the game in Minnesota and the Vikings off to a good start atop the NFC North expect them to be favored by anywhere from 4-7 points. If that is the case, take the Patriots. Cousins in prime time is never a good bet as the win-loss record shows and any time you can get a Belichick coached team with points in a showcase-type game it’s always a good play.

Make sure you check with various New Jersey books to ensure you are getting the best line for each contest.
