Some Jerky Products Sold in NJ, PA Recalled Due to Possible Listeria Contamination
Heads-up if you recently bought some jerky in New Jersey or Pennsylvania -- several brands have been recalled due to possible listeria contamination.
According to the USDA, Boyd Specialties, LLC, of Colton, CA, is recalling just over 1,600 pounds of ready-to-eat jerky products under multiple brand names and flavors.
A full listing of all of the brands that are being recalled can be found here. Pictures of their labels have also been made available online.
The jerky products were produced on February 23, 2022.
What to look for
The products being recalled bear establishment number "EST. 40269" inside the USDA mark of inspection.
Where the products were sold
These items were shipped to stores in Alabama, California, Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
What to watch for
Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that primarily affects older adults, persons with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns, according to the USA.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products.
What to do
If you recently purchased one of the recalled products, you can return it or throw it away.
