BREAKING NEWS EXCLUSIVE

We have learned and confirmed that COVID-19 vaccination mandates are coming to Stockton University.

It should really come as no surprise.

But, it’s also not as easy as it sounds because Stockton University President Harvey Kesselman knows that he’s not a King.

Stockton University has a number of different classifications; each have different collective bargaining rights, etc.

Here are the basic employee groups at Stockton University:

1. Managers (non-union)

2.  Temporary Employee Specialists (non-union)

Kesselman has the authority to require these two groups to be vaccinated in order to attend Stockton University with no external approvals required.

3. Full and Part-Time Faculty (AFT union)

4. Adjunct Faculty (AFT union)

Kesselman must negotiate with #’s 3 and 4 in order to require vaccinations. Further, following negotiations, it must be approved by the statewide AFT union.

Regarding the below mentioned five unions, it’s even more restrictive for Kesselman before a vaccine mandate could be implemented.

The Governor, through the Office of Employee Relations must negotiate with #’s 5-9 in order to require vaccinations of these union members.

5. Communication Workers of America (CWA union)

6. International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE union)

7.  NJ State Policemen's Benevolent Association (NJSPBA union)

8. NJ Superior Officers Association (NJSOA union)

9. NJ Law Enforcement Supervisors Association (NJLESA union)

As you can readily see, it’s a process.

This much we can report, the desire is to implement mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations at Stockton University.

Well placed confidential sources have advised me that President Kessslman will make this official in the immediate near future.

When Kesselman makes this official, we will promptly seek an on-air interview with him on “Hurley in the Morning” on WPG Talk Radio 95.5

We have obtained a copy of an email that Kesselman sent to the Stockton Campus Community at 10:50 a.m. this morning. It confirms that this mandate is coming.

Here it is:

Subject: COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate

Dear Campus Community:

A vaccinated campus is critical for a vibrant, safe, and healthy learning environment and workplace. As you know, Stockton University announced in May that all students enrolled in the fall 2021 semester must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 subject to a medical or religious exemption pursuant to State and Federal law.

Today the University is mandating that all SFT employees (faculty, faculty librarians, and professional staff), Managers, and TES employees be vaccinated before September 1, 2021.

This is one of the most important steps we all can take to protect ourselves and each other. It is, as I said in May, the responsible thing to do.

Details about the implementation of this mandate will follow in another email this afternoon.

Best regards,

Harvey Kesselman
President
Stockton University
