Atlantic City Police say a man with a suspended license, a warrant and was in possession of drugs was arrested after fleeing from a motor vehicle stop.

Cops say around 2:15 Wednesday afternoon, officers conducted a motor vehicle stop at Florida and Arctic Avenues after witnessing a driver, 27-year-old Julian Hinton of Delanco, conduct multiple traffic violations.

As the officers approached the vehicle, Hinton sped away at a high rate of speed. Cops say he struck two separate vehicles and drove on the sidewalk before turning on to Arkansas Avenue and entered the Atlantic City Expressway.

Hinton pulled over on the Expressway due to a vehicle issue and ran from the vehicle before jumping a fence into the marsh. Officers pursued Hinton and after a search of the marsh and wooded area located Hinton and arrested him without further incident.

Officers recovered 240 bags of heroin and more than nine grams of cocaine from a bag that Hinton dropped. He was also found to have a suspended New Jersey driver’s license and a warrant for his arrest.

Hinton was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) and possession with intent to distribute CDS, eluding, obstruction of justice, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia, contempt of court, and multiple motor vehicle summons. Hinton was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
