
Food Dispute Leads to Girlfriend Allegedly Being Assaulted in Washington Twp., NJ
One South Jersey police department is giving us another look into what they deal with on a typical weekend.
On Monday morning, the Washington Township Police Department in Gloucester County took to Facebook to post some of their more eventful calls from the past few days, and some of them were quite troubling.
In total, their officers responded to 315 calls for service, including 18 accidents (where icy roads were a factor), and stopped over 50 vehicles.
Among those calls for service were the following:
Golden Luck Motel
Following a dispute over food, an 18-year-old man from Camden allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face, threw her food on the ground, and pushed her out of their motel room into the parking lot. A motel employee witnessed the incident and contacted police. The man was taken to the Salem County Jail.
Egg Harbor Road
A 51-year-old man from Williamstown was stopped for a traffic violation and subsequently arrested for DWI. Breath samples resulted in a .124 BAC.
Wawa, Route 42
A 36-year-old woman from Glassboro was in a suspicious vehicle and found to have Suboxone, Xanax, and drug paraphernalia.
Route 47/Delsea Drive
During a traffic stop, a 21-year-old man from Camden was identified as a wanted person for unlawful possession of a firearm out of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. He was turned over to the Camden County Jail.
Rear of Lowe's on Route 42
Following a traffic stop, a K9 conducted an exterior sniff of a vehicle with a positive indication. A search revealed methamphetamine, cocaine, crack pipes, and assorted paraphernalia on a 46-year-old woman from Erial.
Egg Harbor Road
A 40-year-old man from Pittsgrove was stopped and found to have multiple active warrants, including one out of the Salem County Prosecutor's Office.
Egg Harbor Road
While officers attempted to transport an intoxicated 39-year-old woman from Turnersville, she attempted to throw alcohol on officers and resisted arrest.
LA (Esporta) Fitness
Multiple unsecured lockers were entered and cash was stolen. Investigation ongoing.
Whitman Drive
A vehicle struck a fire hydrant and the driver fled on foot. The vehicle was not stolen and was registered to a Berlin resident. Berlin Police responded to the registered address.
Verchio's Produce
A woman, described as a habitual shoplifter, stole approximately $30 worth of food. Employees stopped the subject prior to police arrival. She left without further incident; charges are pending.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
