So many doughnuts, so little (gym) time. Long after National Doughnut Day is over, these New Jersey shops still will be churning out amazing, tasty creations. From classic glaze and jelly-filled to lots of creative calorie jackpots, Jersey has 'em.

I've charted the best of NJ doughnuts, so you can create your own "mini" trail for a carb-loaded weekend outing (check out the Google Map above). Since so many of these treats are a feast for the eyes and stomach, I also did a top 10 of doughnut shops.

Based on the roundup, Monmouth and Ocean counties lead the pack for yummy "doughnut density." The rest of our NJ Doughnut Trail is listed below.

Good ahead and indulge. I won't judge. If you think I missed a sweet spot, you can share your Jersey Fresh doughnut faves... just tweet me @ProudJersey and at @NJ1015!

1. Broad Street Dough Co.  (Monmouth County) 2005 Rt. 35N, Oakhurst

The cotton candy triple-layer doughnut caught my attention, immediately. For local flavors, you can chow down on "Shrewsbury Fields" or "Belmar Bliss." Broad Street Dough Co's options include vegan/gluten free (or 'vlugen') doughnut varieties, so no one's left hungry. I also hear the cannolli doughnut is amaaazing!

2. Shore Good Donuts (LBI, Ocean County) 1211 Long Beach Blvd. in Ship Bottom and 14 S. Bay Ave. in Beach Haven).

Shore Good Donuts lives up to its name on LBI. Two spots offer made-to-order goodies, in Beach Haven and Ship Bottom. It's also a personal favorite of our own meteorologist Dan Zarrow, whose go-to flavors include the "Sandy" (glazed with crushed almonds) the "Everything" (not just for bagels anymore) and the "Orange Cream" doughnut (a rotating specialty).

3. Beignets (Morris County) 45 Broadway #1, Denville

This shop has lots for your sweet tooth — starting with Cannolli, Nutella and "Cinnabon" doughnuts! The "Morgan's Sundae" features a banana glaze with nuts, chocolate chips and sprinkles. Other favorites are the "Girl Scout Thin Mint" and Key Lime Pie doughnuts. If you're feeling creative, you can tailor your own from their glaze and toppings menu.

4. Purple Glaze (Monmouth County) 516 Summerfield Ave., Asbury Park

This shop is making waves in Asbury Park. Purple Glaze's offerings range from Plain and Simple to "Fancy and Filled." On that list, there's "Mango Tango" (vanilla icing, toasted coconut, mango filling) and the "Ring of Fire" (vanilla Icing, local hot pepper jelly flling by Holly Jolly Jams).

5. Duck Donuts (Cape May, Somerset & Monmouth Counties) 3246 Dune Dr. in Avalon; 215 Route 22 East, Unit 7 in Green Brook & 1275 Rt 35 in Middletown.

It's a reverse migration for Duck Donuts. While some from NJ are moving to North Carolina, this "warm, delicious and made to order" franchise has opened in three Garden State spots to the delight of Jersey residents.

6. OB-CO’s Donuts (Ocean County) — 547 Fischer Blvd., Toms River

This ultra-favorite Toms River shop is a veteran on the doughnut scene. Fresh made classics, with some new options along the way. You know you're an OG when your business hours are "Open 7 days a week all year, from 5 a.m. until sold out."

7. Donuts Time Cafe (Mercer County) — 1280 NJ-33, Hamilton Township

Donuts Time has some of the consistently prettiest designs on some super tasty doughnuts. From baseball themed, to "Peeps" lookalikes for Spring, to Lemon Donuts for National Doughnut Day, a batch from this Hamilton spot is bound to be a hit at any BBQ or party.

8. Manville Pastry Shoppe (Somerset County) 335 N Main St, Manville

Family owned & operated since 1966. All pastries made on premise seven days a week.

9. L & M Bakery (Burlington County) — 11 St Mihiel Dr., Delran

L & M Bakery is another long-time favorite in south Jersey.  The family-owned and operated bakery in Burlington County has been serving customers for over 50 years.

10. Glaze Donuts (Bergen & Passaic Counties) — 358 River Rd, New Milford and 1055 Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne

As my friend Nick wrote before devouring this, "Behold the Italian Rainbow Donut." This creation is from Glaze Donuts, which has two North Jersey shops and two more on the way, in Paramus (67 East Ridgewood Avenue) and West Caldwell (554 Passaic Ave.).

Other stops on the NJ Doughnut Trail include:

Krispy Kreme (Hudson County) — 95 Christopher Columbus Dr., Jersey City. The current shop is the first of a planned Krispy Kreme expansion into north Jersey.

Also in the NJ doughnut game:

DoCo Donuts (Monmouth County) DoCo the Donut & Coffee Company closed its doors at the old shop in Farmingdale, but has teased a new "Retail Store Location Coming soon."

Donut Revolution (Gloucester County) — Locals around Pitman had been waiting for a shop to open up, but building challenges forced a change of plans. There’s still chances to order for delivery, though.

And, of course, in NJ there's a Dunkin' seemingly everywhere....
