In one of the most innovative breakthroughs in wound care treatment,  medical professionals are now using wound dressings made from human amniotic membrane, a tissue found in the human placenta.

With this innovative approach to healing wounds, doctors are giving another option to patients whose wounds won't heal using existing treatments. The method uses a substance that would otherwise end up discarded as medical waste following a birth.

This is good news for diabetics who often suffer from difficult wounds that do not heal and can lead to amputations.

A specialist in wound care and owner of The Wound Care Clinic of South Jersey in Northfield,  Larry Lodico, discusses how this treatment is helping his patient. For more information, visit the Wound Care Clinic of South Jersey.
