New Jersey is full of towns with very interesting names, especially here in South Jersey. Have you ever wondered how they got their name? It's been awhile, but it's now time to go behind-the-name of another South Jersey town!

According to Wikipedia, Middle Township is a part of Cape May County and was formed in as a township in the winter of 1798. There were 104 original New Jersey townships. Of course Middle Township was one of those.

In 1723, Cape May split into three separate townships, Upper, Middle and Lower.

There are so many fun things to do in the area including the Cape May County Zoo, National Wildlife Refuge, the Cape May Historical Museum, or the Wetlands Institute. Spend a day at Natali or Jessie Creek Winery or catch a show at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center.
