
Wildwood, NJ, Police Say Gun Found During Motel Disturbance; PA Man Charged
Wildwood, N.J. — A Pennsylvania man is facing gun charges after a disturbance at a motel in Wildwood at the end of the long Memorial Day weekend.
The Wildwood Police Department said at about 1:00 early Tuesday morning, May 26th, its officers were called to a motel at 4301 Atlantic Avenue for a report of a large disturbance in the parking lot.
Officers Say Handgun Was Seen in Plain View
According to authorities, while investigating the incident, a suspicious vehicle was stopped in the motel's parking lot in connection with the disturbance. During an encounter with those inside that vehicle, officers say they saw a handgun in plain view.
As a result of the investigation, officers arrested 21-year-old Semaj Turner of Coatesville, PA.
Turner was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun and fourth-degree possession of a large capacity ammunition magazine. He was processed on a warrant complaint and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Center pending a detention hearing.
Wildwood Police Chief Comments
Wildwood Police Chief Joseph Murphy said in a Facebook post about the incident, "Unfortunately, this is the second firearm related arrest that is associated with the holiday weekend crowd. Our officers who do an incredible job will continue to be vigilant in protecting the residents and visitors of the City of Wildwood."
Murphy did not elaborate on the other gun-related arrest.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
