Two men who share a house in Willingboro were arrested on Wednesday and charged with illegally possessing handguns.

Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia Bradshaw's office says 20-year-old Brandon T. Russell was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, third-degree receiving stolen property, and fourth-degree possession of prohibited weapons. 21-year-old Zhamar Duncan was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

According to authorities,

  • Russell was taken into custody at the residence in the first block of Haskell Lane, where a .40 caliber handgun, hollow point bullets and an extended ammunition magazine were discovered during the execution of a search warrant. The handgun was found to be stolen out of North Carolina.
  • Duncan was arrested in Burlington Township with a loaded 9 mm handgun in his possession.

Bradshaw said in a statement,

These arrests demonstrate the determination by law enforcement agencies to work cooperatively to attack gun violence and create safer neighborhoods for our residents. This will remain a top priority in Burlington County.

Both men are being held in the Burlington County Jail pending detention hearings next week.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
