Two Years Ago: First Positive Case Of COVID-19 In America

It’s pretty hard to believe, but I haven’t seen a single story anywhere in America regarding the fact that it’s been two years since COVID-19 changed our lives so dramatically.

The first confirmed case of 2019-nCoV infection in the United States was reported on January 20, 2020.

On this date in 2020, there was exactly one confirmed case of COVID-19 in America, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data.

The New England Journal of medicine described it this way:

“An outbreak of novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) that began in Wuhan, China, has spread rapidly, with cases now confirmed in multiple countries.”

“We report the first case of 2019-nCoV infection confirmed in the United States and describe the identification, diagnosis, clinical course, and management of the case, including the patient’s initial mild symptoms at presentation with progression to pneumonia on day 9 of illness.”

As of February 7, 2022, there have been 77,051,506 positive cases of COVID-19.

Arguably, there are most likely tens of millions more cases. Some were never reported and many don’t even know that they had COVID-19.

Most states have, or, are in the process of ending mask mandates and other onerous policies.

Americans trying to take this from the pandemic to endemic phase.

Look how this has changed everyone’s life.

• The supply chain remains broken. I just talked with a lifelong friend who was at a large, famous local supermarket, today. They were out of potatoes. His comment was “I’ve never seen that in my life and this doesn’t even happen in Russia.“
• Automobile Industry, all sectors… New cars, used cars and rental cars have all been dramatically impacted.
• The workplace has been so dramatically affected.
• Schools have walked the gauntlet. First, closing. Second, quickly implementing virtual learning. Face masks have been worn by children for two years. Several COVID-19 waves have significantly challenged our educational delivery systems.
• Approximately 1/3 of local businesses have closed forever over the past two years.

Everyone has lost someone close to you to COVID-19.

It’s been a very challenging and stressful two years in so many ways.

The highly contagious Omicron variant hit America very hard. Positive Omicron cases now are only at about 1/3 the level versus its peak.

The first recorded positive case of the Omicron variant in America was on November 25, 2021.

As was The case in South Africa and in the United Kingdom, the Omicron variant hits hard and fades quickly.

You can feel it. It’s palpable. The American people have had it with this pandemic and the elected officials can see it.

The elected officials realize this, too. That’s why they are all doing the same thing, at the same time and relaxing, or ending their onerous COVID-19 policies.
