The Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey Police Department has confirmed that a motor vehicle crash occurred on Friday, May 17, 2024 at approximately 2:07 p.m.

A woman who was not wearing a seatbelt was ejected from the car and has suffered life-threatening injuries.

The woman, Evelyn Gomez-Erazo, 29, from Atlantic City, was, “making a left turn out of the Petro AC Gas Station to continue eastbound on the Black Horse Pike. A 2014 Honda Civic, operated by Lamar Parker, 40 years of age, from Atlantic City, was traveling westbound on the Black Horse Pike in the inside westbound lane of travel, approaching the entrance/exit to the gas station,” according to the Egg Harbor Township Police Department.

Gomez-Erazo was driving a 2016 Ford Escape, which accelerated out of the parking lot and into traffic and directly in the path of a Honda Civic, which caused a collision.

The Civic impacted the Escape on the driver side, causing both vehicles to rotate. Ms. Gomez-Erazo was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision and was ejected from the vehicle. She was treated at the scene by EHT EMS and AtlantiCare Paramedics and transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Campus Trauma Unit for life-threatening injuries. Mr. Parker and two additional passengers of the Civic were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division for moderate injuries, said the Egg Harbor Township Police Department.

The Black Horse Pike was closed for about 2 hours, during which time the area was investigated and cleared.

Police Officers Nick Poletis, Robert Moran, Thomas Rizzotte and Sergeant Ed Stearns of the Egg Harbor Township Traffic Safety Unit are investigating the crash.

The investigation continues and no charges have been filed as yet.
