2 Arrested in Atlantic City, NJ; Gun, Ecstasy, Heroin, Cocaine Seized
Two people are each facing a long list of charges after a drug bust in Atlantic City Wednesday.
The Atlantic City Police Department says two of their detectives were conducting surveillance in the area of the first block of South Mansion Avenue when they observed 40-year-old Malik Jones of Atlantic City and 25-year-old Camron Izzard of Philadelphia "appearing to be engaged in the [distribution] of narcotics."
The detectives converged on a parked car after learning that Jones had an active warrant for his arrest from Pennsylvania.
Authorities say they observed a digital scale on the center console of the vehicle and both men were arrested.
Izzard was found in possession of ecstasy; Jones was found in possession of 18 grams of cocaine and 60 bags of heroin, according to police.
During a search, detectives recovered a loaded handgun, six grams of cocaine, 104 grams of marijuana, numerous ecstasy pills, and materials that are commonly used to produce and manufacture cocaine.
Jones has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, three counts of possession of CDS, two counts of possession of CDS with intent to distribute, certain person not to possess a weapon, possession of CDS paraphernalia, loitering to distribute CDS, maintaining a CDS production facility, and fugitive from justice.
Izzard was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, three counts of possession of CDS, two counts of possession of CDS with intent to distribute, certain person not to possess a weapon, possession of CDS paraphernalia, loitering to distribute CDS, and maintaining a CDS production facility.
Both men were remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
