The program will begin on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. Here’s how it will work.

ACPD officers will begin conducting enforcement operations throughout high-volume pedestrian areas that will continue through the summer. Those who violate the existing traffic laws could be subject to citation and provided with an educational pamphlet explaining the importance of pedestrian satety. Police are encouraging pedestrians to look both ways before crossing, utilize crosswalks and intersections, wait for the walk signal, and heads up, phones down. Similarly, the ACPD wants drivers to slow down, stop for people crossing, eliminate distractions, and adhere to "heads up, phones down, said the ACPD.
