Atlantic City Area Politician Will Receive Cushy, Paid Appointment
A former Chairman of the Atlantic County Board of Chosen Freeholders is set to land a seat on the New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA).
Frank Formica
Has more political lives than a cat. Upon being confirmed, Formica will receive $ 18,000 per-year for serving on the CRDA Board.
New Jersey Senator Vince Polistina
Could have blocked Formica’s appointment, by exercising an unofficial, yet significant power called “Senatorial Courtesy.”
Polistina did not stand in the way of this political appointment. He easily could have.
This is to Polistina’s credit, especially considering how the appointment of Frank Formica’s Brother, Mario was able ti gain a coveted seat on the New Jersey Casino Control Commission … when Mario Formica allegedly moved to a neighboring district to avoid Polistina’s Senatorial Courtesy privilege.
New Jersey Senator Michael Testa
Testa proceeded to promptly sign-off on Mario Formica’s nomination after he allegedly moved into Testa’s district.
This act by Testa caused tensions between New Jersey District 2 versus Testa’s District 1.
Testa won’t be needed for the Frank Formica appointment this time.
New Jersey Casino Reinvestment Development Authority Salaries
It’s a very nice gig.
- Chairman receives $ 23,000 annually.
- Other Public Members receive $ 18,000
annually.
For example, Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small has a seat on the CRDA board, however, does not receive a salary.
A casino executive also sits in the board and also does not collect a salary.
