Atlantic City, NJ, School Principal — Criminal Charges & Outcome
For Constance Days-Chapman, the Principal of Atlantic City, New Jersey High School, “It’s The Final Countdown,” cue the music please.
The only thing that can stop Days-Chapman from returning back to her leadership position at Atlantic City High School tomorrow is no longer an Atlantic County Jury … rather, it’s winter storm “Fern.”
The Criminal Charges
An Atlantic County Grand Jury indicted Days-Chapman on August 17, 2024 on a variety of criminal counts as follows:
- second-degree Official
Misconduct. - one count of second-degree Pattern of Official Misconduct.
- one count of second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
- one count of third-degree Hindering
Apprehension of Another.
Donald Harris, the director of secondary education had served as Acting Principal until Days-Chapman’s reinstatement.
Days-Chapman Has Mayor Marty Small To Thank For Her Positive Outcome & Soft Landing
Days-Chapman never saw a courtroom trial. That’s because Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small took most all of the heat and carried most of the weight throughout this entire matter.
Marty Small won vindication over the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office in such rout that Days-Chapman and La’Quetta Small would never see a criminal jury trial.
Days-Chapman Flew Under The Radar Screen
Again, because of Marty Small, Days-Chapman was able to navigate her process without the spotlight that Marty Small existed under for close to two years.
Days-Chapman Never Took A Plea Deal
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office wanted to take down Marty Small (first) and La’Quetta Small ;second) Days-Chapman never even considered turning on The Smalls.
There was never a crack in the armor of these three close friends throughout the entire criminal process.
Marty Small Was Offered A Plea Deal
The deal would have involved no jail time, however, Small would have been required to resign as Mayor of Atlantic City.
Marty Small never considered taking the plea deal.
Just a few days before Christmas, 2025, Marty Small earned a unanimous NOT GUILTY verdict from an Atlantic County jury.
The result was never in doubt, as the Marty Small defense team of Jacobs & Barbone annihilated the prosecution team.
In the end, Marty Small closed the deal by taking the witness stand (in his own defense) for 5 hours. The jury believed Small and not the prosecution.
Marty Small Won So Big
That the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office was left with no choice but to drop all charges against La’Quetta Small and Constance Days-Chapman.
