Bedridden Woman Dies After Pickup Crashes Into House in Brick

BRICK — A bedridden woman was killed Tuesday morning when a pickup truck slammed through the side of her house.

Police said said Barbara Anne Filan, 55, was lying in the living room of the three-story home on Drum Point Road when the 2014 Ford F-150 pickup truck crashed through the wall from the parking lot of the small shopping center next door.

The driver of the pickup, William McEvoy, 86, of Brick, was taken to Ocean Medical Medical Center as a precaution, according to township police spokesman James Kelly.

"This is a tragic accident made all the more difficult by the time of year," police Chief James Riccio said.

Filan's adult son was upstairs at the time of the crash, according to Kelly.

Kelly said that no charges have been filed.
