Gloucester County, NJ, Man Arrested After Allegedly Trying to Meet Teen Boy For Sex
A Gloucester County man has been arrested for allegedly attempting to meet an underage boy for sex.
That "boy," however, was actually an undercover detective.
38-year-old Joseph J. Catrambone of Deptford has been charged with first-degree attempted manufacturing of child sexual abuse material (CSAM), second-degree attempting to lure a child, second-degree attempted sexual assault of a minor, third-degree attempted endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree attempting to send obscene material to a minor, and fourth-degree attempted criminal sexual contact of a minor.
Undercover Investigation Leads to Arrest
The Camden County Prosecutor's Office says on January 7th, Catrambone began communicating online with someone he believed was a 14-year-old boy who was actually a detective with that office's High Tech Crimes Unit.
According to authorities, during the conversation, Catrambone sent an explicit photo of himself and expressed his desire to engage in sexual acts with the child; he also requested the child send explicit photos to him.
Catrambone ultimately arranged to meet the child to have sex, per officials, and later that day, he was taken into custody and remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Sgt. John Cochran with the Camden County Prosecutor's Office at (856) 225-8826.
The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
