Westmont Diner damaged by overnight fire
A diner in South Jersey has had to close temporarily after an early morning fire.
WPVI-TV reports crews rushed to the Westmont Diner in the 500 block of West Cuthbert Blvd. in Haddon Township, Camden County, around 1:30 Wednesday morning.
Flames damaged some equipment on the diner's roof.
Once the situation was under control, the owners of the diner took to Facebook and said,
We’re heartbroken to share that our diner will be closed until further notice due to a fire. Thankfully, everyone is safe, but the damage requires us to pause operations while we assess and make repairs. We appreciate your support, patience, and understanding during this difficult time.
That was followed by an update that suggested that the fire was contained to the kitchen area and the diner may reopen in a couple of weeks "but it could be longer."
Those who frequent the Westmont Diner, formerly the Crystal Lake Diner, were quick to offer their support.
- Good luck with the restoration. Can’t wait for when you are back in business again! Sending lots of love and good wishes!
- Happy all safe. Just ate there last evening. Always great food and service. Eagerly awaiting your reopening.
- Great food and customer service, you will come back stronger than ever
The cause of the fire is still unknown as it remains under investigation. No injuries were reported. The diner had closed at 9:00 the night before, so no customers were inside when the blaze started.
