Victim Found Shot Dead at Lakeview Apartments
The Camden County Prosecutor's Office says just before 5:00 on the afternoon of July 9th, officers with the Gloucester Township Police Department responded to the Lakeview apartment complex on the 500 block of Lower Landing Road for a report of a person who had been shot. There, they found Sanflippo in the doorway of his apartment, dead from a gunshot wound.
Key Evidence Recovered at Crime Scene
Officials say during their investigation, they located a .45 caliber shell casing at the homicide scene. Additionally, detectives learned the suspect had stolen a vehicle from a witness at the apartment complex. The suspect was described as wearing a black surgical mask, a head garment with tassels, and green pants.
Lucas Arrested Near Stolen Vehicle in NYC
This past Sunday, July 13th, the New York City Police Department located the stolen vehicle on W. 49th Street and Lucas was arrested one block away for an unrelated crime.
According to authorities, Lucas was found with the key to the stolen vehicle and a .45 caliber handgun, and he was wearing a black surgical mask and head garment with tassels.
Ballistics testing confirmed the .45 caliber shell casing recovered from the homicide scene was a match for the .45 caliber handgun recovered from Lucas. Additionally, green pants with suspected blood on them were located inside the stolen vehicle.
Lucas is being held at Rikers Island in New York pending extradition to New Jersey.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact Det. Tanner Ogilvie of the Camden County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit at (856) 580-5819.
