The Atlantic City, New Jersey Housing Authority is a failed public entity by any standard of measure.

This public agency has allowed residents of the Stanley Holmes Village to live for two consecutive years … with no heat, no hot water …  many with no cooking capabilities … living amongst rats,  cockroaches and other insects.

Resident Board Member Charmaine Hall will be resigning her position and will not be attending today’s board meeting.

Hall has been a breath of fresh air on this board that has failed miserably in every single aspect of their public responsibilities.

Former Atlantic City Housing Authority Executive Director Matt Doherty has called the agency “The Largest Slumlord in Atlantic City.”

Doherty outlined a culture of corruption … including abusive, no bid contracts, according to Doherty.

Doherty outlined that $ 7.4 million in no bid contracts were awarded by the Atlantic City Housing Authority Board between November, 2022 and June, 2023.

Doherty put a stop to these fundamentally bad business practices upon becoming the Executive Director of the Atlantic City Housing Authority.

Doherty also warned that the Atlantic City Housing Authority Board was preparing to award a purchasing contract that last year was in the amount of $ 406,000.

In the photo above, the water that you see collecting in the bottom left side of the above photo is actual sewer water.

Atlantic City residents of the Stanley Holmes Village Apartments have been living without heat, hot water and among rodents, insects and other contaminants for more than two years.

At the time, Atlantic City Councilman George Tibbitt participated with Doherty in an on-air interview with me.

Tibbitt was highly critical of the 5 current members of the Atlantic City Council who would not allow public hearings to be conducted to address the numerous problems at the Atlantic City Housing Authority.

The United States federal government has confirmed that the Atlantic City housing Authority is it deeply problematic public agency.

United States Congressman Jeff Van Drew has shined the light of truth on this agency at the national level… Where the Atlantic City housing Authority was criticized and congressional public hearings.
