Heads-up Pleasantville: Cops Testing ShotSpotter System Wednesday

A heads-up if you plan to be in Pleasantville this evening: cops will be testing the city's ShotSpotter system.

Normally, a routine test wouldn't make the news, however, the system will be tested with live fire from multiple weapons.

According to the Pleasantville Police Department via Facebook,

"This evening [Wednesday, June 16th] between the hours of 6pm and 9pm the Pleasantville Police Department, in conjunction with ShotSpotter Technologies, will be conducting routine quality control testing of the ShotSpotter Gunshot Detection system. This testing will be conducted in multiple locations throughout the city and will consist of controlled live fire from multiple weapons. The live fire will be conducted by members of the Pleasantville Police Department Firearms Training Unit and contained within a mobile ballistic backstop."

Officials say the Egg Harbor Township Police Department will be aware of the testing locations.

Cops say residents are encouraged to call in any reports of what they believe could be gunfire and those reports will be handled as they normally would.
