United States Congressman Jeff Van Drew is speaking out on President Joe Biden’s response to the intensifying crisis between Russia and Ukraine.

"President Biden's decision to finally impose sanctions on Russia, while in the right direction, comes far too late to deter Russian advancement into Ukraine," said Congressman Van Drew.

"Weakness has been the central theme of President Biden's presidency--from destroying our own energy independence through canceling the Keystone XL Pipeline, to the failed withdrawal from Afghanistan--he has continually destroyed the perception of America's strength on the world stage."

Van Drew is urging President Biden to bring America back to full oil production capacity.

13 months ago, America was energy independent and a net oil exporter. The reliance on Russia and OPEC has left to a sharp rise in gasoline and natural gas, even before the Russia - Ukraine situation.

“We must permanently end Nord Stream 2 to remove Russia's stranglehold on European energy demands, and we must impose crippling sanctions on Russian industries that fuel military production. We are on the precipice of the largest war in Europe since World War II, and the time to act is now."

Germany took swift action today and halted the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. This would double Russia’s oil business with Germany should it ever be allowed to be finished.

Most analysts believe that President Biden has done too little, too late by way of meaningful Russia sanctions.

Russian President Vladimir Putin was unfazed by the sanctions imposed in 2014, (Obama-Biden era) when Putin attacked Ukraine and annexed Crimea.

The sanctions this time with Biden 2.0 promises to be much harsher.

Time will tell.
