With high temperatures well above freezing, almost the entire Garden State will have zero wintry weather woes on Tuesday.

I have to admit - this is a pretty boring forecast. I don't think I've ever been able to fit my printed January forecast on just one page! Having said that, there is some rain and a tiny bit of ice to talk about.

Tuesday looks like a mostly wet day for New Jersey, as a storm system pushes pockets of rain through the state. For the first part of the day (Tuesday morning to early afternoon), the rain should take the form of occasional showers. Models suggest a brief period of steadier rain will be possible from Tuesday late afternoon through early evening. Most rainfall totals should ultimately end up between a quarter-inch and half-inch.

In between raindrops, skies will remain overcast and high temperatures will reach the mid to upper 40s. Well above freezing.

However, temperatures will hover near the freezing mark this morning in far North Jersey, where some snow cover may remain. So, there is a chance for a bit of freezing rain, potentially producing a few icy spots. As I did yesterday, I caution that the icing risk is low and limited to the highest elevations of North Jersey only. The National Weather Service has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory for Warren County until 10 a.m. and for Sussex County until 7 p.m.

Honestly, I remain skeptical. I just don't see there being enough ice accumulation to caution even minor travel concerns.

A few showers will remain possible for Tuesday night, and fog may develop. If the air is still and humid enough, that fog may get thick in spots. Overnight lows will fall to around 40 degrees - the entire state should remain above freezing.

I had previously described Wednesday as "turning into a pretty nice day". Unfortunately, I have to back off the pleasantry, as Wednesday now looks to carry stray showers and sprinkles and thick clouds overhead. That will limit the thermometer from climbing too far - hopefully we'll still reach about 50 degrees by Wednesday afternoon.

Thursday now looks like the "weather winner of the week," as breaks of sun fuel the warmest day of the week. Our latest forecast calls for high temperatures in the lower 50s for most of New Jersey. Light winds and dry weather will contribute to the nice mid-January day.

Most of Friday looks good too, even though clouds will increase and temperatures cool to the upper 40s. Our next storm system will produce a quick hit of rain between Friday late afternoon and early Saturday morning. (There are some discrepancies among forecast models regarding the exact timing of this rain. But again, it looks like just a rain event.)

The weekend looks quiet and mild, with highs between about 45 and 50 degrees for both Saturday and Sunday. In general, we'll enjoy partly sunny skies. I'm a little concerned about the potential for easterly winds - such an on-shore flow generally means a more overcast and cooler day for the Jersey Shore.

The next big weather-maker worth watching arrives Monday morning. Just rain again! And this one could be a soaker, with an extended period of heavy rain Monday night into Tuesday.
