The Atlantic City, New Jersey Prosecutor’s Office has charged an Atlantic City man with the shooting, attempted murder of a Pleasantville Man.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office has released the following public information about this violent incident as follows:

On Saturday, May 18, 2024, at 11:32 a.m., the Pleasantville Police Department was dispatched to a ShotSpotter indication at 317 West Park Avenue. Patrol responded to the scene and located a male, Andrew Miller, 31, of Pleasantville, NJ suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Division for treatment. The suspect left the area in a Lexus. The Lexus was stopped by the New Jersey State Police on the Atlantic City Expressway, said The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

The driver has been identified as, Marlon Chiles II, 26, of Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Chiles was arrested and charged with:

  • first-degree attempted murder.
  • second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun.
  • second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.
  • third-degree possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.

A large, unspecified amount of marijuana was found in Chiles’ car.

Chiles is currently lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a detention hearing.

This attempted murder investigation is a collaboration between the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Major Crimes Unit, along with and the Pleasantville Police Department, the New Jersey State Police, the Atlantic City Police Department, and the Atlantic County Sheriff's Department.
