Two men from Pemberton Township have been indicted in connection to a fatal shooting of an 18-year-old Willingboro man last April.

Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina says a grand jury has charged 20-year-old Sylas Young with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, gang criminality, and related weapon offenses. 24-year-old Kavon Carter was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, gang criminality, and promoting organized street crime.

An indictment was returned Tuesday and an arraignment will be held soon in superior court.

Coffina's office says an investigation began late on the night of April 22nd, 2021, after officers from the Willingboro Township Police Department were called to the first block of Barrington Lane for a shots-fired call.

There, officers found the body of Yahsinn Robinson, who was a senior at Willingboro High School. He had been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation revealed that Carter and Young, and their associates from Pemberton Township, had been involved in a long-running dispute with certain residents of the Buckingham Park section of Willingboro. The investigation determined that this shooting stemmed from an escalation of that friction. Robinson, who was returning home from his part-time job when killed, was not involved in the conflict.

Both Young and Carter are being held at the Burlington County Jail in Mount Holly.

The public is reminded that charges are accusations and all persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
