Raw Beef Product Sold at Aldi in NJ and Beyond May Contain Pieces of Plastic
Check your fridge and freezer: a raw beef product sold at Aldi stores in New Jersey and across the country may contain pieces of plastic.
What to look for
The affected product is an approximately 1.5-pound plastic tray package containing "USDA CHOICE BLACK ANGUS BEEF FROM ALDI, BEEF FOR CARNE PICADA" with a "use or freeze by" date of Aug. 22, 2023, Julian Date 206, and time stamp between 08:43 through 09:23.
Officials with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service say the item in question was produced on July 25th, 2023.
The product bears "Est. 85M" on the back label.
The beef may be contaminated with pieces of soft, clear plastic.

The USDA has issued a public health alert for the product -- not a recall -- since the product is no longer for sale in stores.
There have been no confirmed reports of injury or illness.
Consumers who have purchased this product are urged not to consume them. This product should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
Consumers with questions about the public health alert can call Cargill at (844) 419-1574.
