Vineland Kids Football Team Has $8,000 in Equipment Stolen
Despicable. How else could you describe the actions of thieves who broke into the headquarters of the Vineland Blitz youth football league team last weekend and stole thousands of dollars in uniforms, helmets, and equipment used by kids ages 5 to 14 to play flag football.
These jerks even stole the cheerleaders' uniforms.
Now, the Vineland Junior Football League is on the clock to try replace the uniforms and equipment before Sunday's games of the season.
The perpetrators gained entrance through a broken window having smashed it out using a part of a cinder block. Once inside, they stole several thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment and supplies for youth football and cheerleader. In addition, there was several thousands of dollars’ worth of damage caused. Amongst some of the items stolen were all of our game footballs which we need for our games this weekend as well as some of the kid's game jerseys. We currently have about 100 kids practicing getting ready for their first games this Sunday and now, we are scrambling trying to get the items replaced in time for Sunday's games.
While police investigate the theft, the team has started a Go Fund Me page to help recoup the loss and spare the kids from missing out on their fun time.
We currently have about 100 kids practicing getting ready for their first games this Sunday and now, we are scrambling trying to get the items replaced in time for Sunday's games. These kids are excited about getting outside and playing flag football this weekend as it’s long overdue to have some outdoor fun! It’s very sad and disheartening that someone would target and steal from kids and we don't want the kids to feel that pain by missing out on upcoming fun. As adults, we give our passion, time and money for the benefit of local kids. The kids are the real victims in all of this. Hopefully we can come together and make this organization whole again so that we can get back to the business of creating a fun and safe environment for these children. We sincerely thank you for any contribution you can make.
