The verdict was returned after a six-day jury trial in Camden County Superior Court. The jury deliberated for about 45 minutes before returning with the guilty verdict.

Discovery of the Crime

Authorities say on the morning of Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021, the Voorhees Township Police Department received a call from someone who requested a well-being check of Lichtfuss after receiving text messages from him implying that he may harm himself.

Officers arrived at Lichtfuss' home on the 1400 block of Lincoln Drive and after not receiving a response at the door, they made entry and found Caraway dead in a bedroom.

Arrest and Confession

Later that day, cops found Lichtfuss in a parked vehicle at a gas station in Voorhees and he was taken into custody.

When interviewed by detectives, Lichtfuss confessed to putting his wife in a chokehold.

The medical examiner determined the cause of Caraway’s death to be neck compression and the manner of death to be homicide.

A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
