The Atlantic City, New Jersey Police Department has confirmed that a convenience store has been closed, following a clerk being caught aliegedly selling drugs, along with other violations.

Here is how the Atlantic City Police Department has described the circumstances:

On August 16, 2024, at 1:11 PM, detectives of the Special Investigations Section were conducting surveillance in the 1400 block of Atlantic Avenue focusing on the distribution and possession of narcotics. During this period, the merchant at the 24-7 Food Mart left from behind the counter several times to engage with customers. As Morgan was interacting with the customers, he was observed engaged in the sale of narcotics while in possession of a digital scale which is used by individuals distributing narcotics. Morgan was also observed selling loose cigarettes to a customer, said the Atlantic City Police Department.

The Atlantic City Police Department also confirmed that at one point Morgan:

  • Morgan the store unattended with customers inside.
  • Morgan was placed in custody and found in possession of 12 grams of cocaine and more than four grams of marijuana.
  • Inside the store, Atlantic City Police Detectives located numerous cartons of cigarettes and paraphernalia used in the distribution of narcotics. 

The Atlantic City Police Department has charged:

ARRESTED: Cecil Morgan, 35, of Atlantic City.

CHARGES: Possession of CDS, possession of CDS with intent to distribute, possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a public zone (two counts), and possession of CDS paraphernalia.

CHARGED: Tariq Mehmood, 58, of Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

CHARGES: Possession of unstamped, out of state stamped, and or counterfeit stamped cig-arettes, engaging in a cigarette transaction with an unlicensed person, sale of loosies, and failure to display the New Jersey Cigarette Retail Dealer's License.

CHARGED: Yasmin Faheem, 39, of Atlantic City.

CHARGES: Possession of unstamped, out of state stamped, and or counterfeit stamped cig-arettes, engaging in a cigarette transaction with an unlicensed person, sale of loosies, and failure to display the New Jersey Cigarette Retail Dealer's License.

All of the charge Tse summons is to appear in court in the future.
