An Egg Harbor Township man now likely faces a dozen years behind bars after pleading guilty to child porn-related charges.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says earlier this month, 36-year-old William Roman pleaded guilty to second-degree endangering the welfare of children (distribution of child sexual assault material) and second-degree endangering the welfare of children (possession of child sexual assault material with intent to distribute) in exchange for a twelve-year term in state prison.

Roman was eligible for enhanced sentencing due to a 2017 conviction on similar charges.

An investigation began when the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding Roman's online activities.

Authorities determined Roman was sharing child sexual assault material on Snapchat, and possessed that content with the intent to distribute it to others in hopes of building his collection of child pornography.

Sentencing is scheduled for August 7th.
