The rumor we addressed back in August 2024, that Egg Harbor Township native Dominic Sessa, 22, would star in a much-talked-about biopic about the young years of Anthony Bourdain's career in the kitchen, was confirmed by Variety.

A24 confirmed the casting news for the upcoming film -- which will be called "Tony" -- on Wednesday, re-sharing a post from Variety on the social account X.

Filming is set to begin in May.

Oscar nominee Antonio Banderas is also joining the film's cast, though his role hasn't been disclosed.

Variety says the film takes place during the summer of 1976, when a young Anthony Bourdain had a life-changing summer in Provincetown.

Two years later, the 20-year-old Bourdain enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America.

Matt Johnson (BlackBerry) is set to direct from a screenplay co-written by Todd Bartels and Lou Howe, according to Variety.

Bourdain was the executive chef of Brasserie Les Halles in New York City and penned the 2000 memoir "Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly."

He took his life in 2018 at age 61 and earned a posthumous Emmy for the series No Reservations and Parts Unknown.

EHT/Ocean City Resident Dominic Sessa is a Rising Hollywood Star

Dominic Sessa grew up in Egg Harbor Township and now has a home in Ocean City.

The word is that Sessa has had his pick of movie roles since making his film debut in The Holdovers, which was named one of the top films of 2023 by the American Film Institute.

The movie earned his co-stars Paul Giamatti an Oscar nomination and Da'Vine Joy Randolph an Oscar win for best supporting actress, but Sessa's role as troubled teenager Angus Tully stole the show.

Dominic Sessa's next move was to take a starring role in Now You See Me 3, the third installment in Lionsgate's magician-heist saga, which is scheduled to open in theaters on November 14th, 2025

Sessa Started as an Egg Harbor Township Middle Schooler

Dominic Sessa moved from Cherry Hill to Egg Harbor Township and was a student at EHT's Alder Ave. Middle School.

He attended Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts beginning in tenth grade, according to his Wikipedia page, and was given a chance to audition for The Holdovers since the film was using the academy as a shooting location.
