One of the trends in College Football over the last few years has been high-profile NFL Players becoming Head Coaches.

The most famous hiring being Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders being hired at Jackson State. "Coach Prime" spent three seasons at JSU before taking his current role at the University of Colorado Head Coach.

Other former players who have gotten Head Coach jobs in recent years includes Heisman Trophy Winner and All-Pro NFL Running Back (Tennessee State 2021-24, Bowling Green 2025-Present), Super Bowl Champion Quarterback Trent Dilfer (UAB 2023-Present), and Super Bowl Champion Cornerback Terrell Buckley (hired as Mississippi Valley State in January 2025).

Joining this list are former Philadelphia Eagles players who are planning to face off in a college football game in Philadelphia this upcoming fall season.

Former Eagles Players Become College Football Head Coaches

The Philadelphia Eagles had two of the most dynamic athletes in the NFL as teammates from 2009 to 2013. For five seasons, Quarterback Michael Vick and Wide Receiver Desean Jackson connected for 24 Touchdowns in 51 games played together in Philadelphia.

Twelve years after Vick and Jackson played in their final Eagles game together, they are now Head Football Coaches for College Football teams. Following in the footsteps of Deion Sanders and Eddie George, the two former Eagles players have been hired at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

Norfolk State, whose Football team has one winning season since 2012, hired Michael Vick to be their new Head Coach. Vick played his High School Football at Warwick, which is less than an hour drive from the Norfolk State campus.

Delaware State has not played much better in recent years. The Delaware State Football team has not had a winning season since 2012. The university hired DeSean Jackson as their new Head Coach to make his debut on the sidelines this upcoming season.

The DSU Hornets are scheduled to play the NSU Spartans on November 1st, but this matchup of former Eagles teammates could see their teams play at a special neutral site.

Former Eagles Wide Receiver Spills The Details During Interview

During the latest edition of the Up and Adams Show on Fan Duel TV, Host Kay Adams asked DeSean Jackson what game she should circle on the Delaware State Football schedule, and Coach Jackson gave Kay more information than she expected:

"The Michael Vick and DJax game at (Lincoln Financial Field), we're trying to get it at The Link. I don't know if I was supposed to spill that yet, but we're trying (for) this November 1st....The (Delaware State) Hornets, we're trying to get that (played) at Lincoln Financial Field - I think we're real close, so you know here it is, I'm spilling all the beans....I just actually talked to my Athletic Director this morning, and on our end it's going good. So it's just they got to (get Norfolk State) to accept it on their end, but it's it's looking pretty good."

Before he was the Head Football Coach at Delaware State, DeSean Jackson was one of the best Wide Receivers in Eagles Franchise History. Here is the list of the best WRs to play football in Philadelphia:
